The English Premier Leagues is back after an international
break littered the with FIFA 2918 World Cup qualifiers. There was a big result
for Manchester City, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal floundered. On the other side,
Jose Mourinho was Mourinho at Anfield. Here are the five talking points from
match day 8:
Hodgson chews up Conte: former England manager Roy Hodgson
did the miraculous by leading his Crystal Palace side to a 2-1 victory over
defending champions Chelsea. Even though Chelsea were lacking a couple of first
11 players, no one gave Palace, a team yet to register their first shot on
target prior to the game a dog’s chance, however Hodgson and his charges defied
all odds to down their London rivals.
Shakespeare shown the exit: after a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich
Albion, Leicester manager, Craig Shakespeare has been fired by the club. The 2015/16
champions have only won a single game in the current campaign, and are already
fighting relegation.
Stunning Citizens breaks the Potters: Manchester City put on
a breath-taking show on Saturday to annihilate Stoke City in a 7-2 match. There
was no hiding place for Stoke City as they were totally destroyed by Guardiola’s
pupils, led by tormentor-in-chief, Kevin de Bruyne.
Marco Silva deflates Arsene Wenger: Wartford coach, Marco
Silva masterminded a 2-1 victory over Arsenal to put Arsene Wenger under the
spotlight again. The Gunners boss decided to omit 3 key players-Ozil, Ramsey, and
Sanchez, with Ramsey and Sanchez entirely missing out on the match day squad-from
his starting line-up, and he was left to defend his choices after another bad
day in front of goal and on the pitch for his team.
Klopp the pretender: Liverpool and Man United played out a
boring stalemate at Anfield during Saturday’s early kick off game. At the end
of the day, Mourinho predictably received all the flake for parking the bus. However,
it is his opposite number who was more hypocritical on the day. It’s a well-documented
fact that Mourinho is a defensive minded coach, so his approach came as no
surprise unlike Jurgen Klopp who is noted for his boom boom style. But the
German was equally conservative on the day, even sacrificing his 3 artistes-Coutinho,
Firmino, and Sallah-as the game drew to an end.
